Puerto Rico at the Crux of Climate Change and Recovery
February 21-22 2025
A conversation about law, science, and the future of our coasts.
Sea Grant Puerto Rico and the Legal Clinic at the Inter American University School of Law are hosting a symposium on Environmental Law and Policy. The event aims to acknowledge, examine and challenge coastal policies that have left the archipelago with increased vulnerability to climate change, limited protections for coastal systems, and reduced or ineffective enforcement of laws and regulations meant to protect coasts and keep people safe. While our focus is Puerto Rico, This interdisciplinary event will provide a space to spotlight pressing coastal issues and bring together varying approaches to coastal policies that can protect coastal systems while supporting healthy communities.
The symposium will be held on February 21 at the Inter-American University School of Law and will continue on February 22 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
This event is possible thanks to the support of the Sea Grant Law Center.
